Before you head out on your first RV trip with your pets, you will want to make sure you have all the gear you and your pooch will need. We gathered 5 must have accessories for RVing with dogs, especially if you’re planning on taking your dog on hikes and adventures. Check them out below.
Seat Belt Harness or Car Seat Sling
As we mentioned in our Tips for RVing with Pets post, safety while driving with pets is so important. It might be tempting to let your furry friends sit on your lap when you are traveling down the road, but that is not in the best interest of you or your pet. Keep both you and your pet safe by putting them in a seat belt harness, pet sling, or a secured crate while traveling down the road. You can try an adjustable seat harness or car seat cover sling for dogs that are comfortable with riding in the car.
Life Jacket
A happy dog is a dog in the water. And a happy dog owner has a happy dog playing in the water safely. Dogs love to play in the water, but they get tired just like us and Ruffwear’s K-9 Float Coat is buoyant, reflective and secure. It also has a helpful handle for when it is time to help your furry adventurer out of the water.
Traveling Water Bottle
When you take your dogs for hikes or something easily accessible when stopping at rest stations, this 14-oz water bottle with filters comes in handy.
Adventure Vest and Booties
On your hiking and adventure days, your pup can bring their own supplies with a Ruff Wear adventure pack. The adventure packs come in a variety of sizes and capabilities. Ruff Wear also has booties for dogs that help protect their paws and provide added traction. See both the adventure pack and boots here.
Collapsible Water and Food Dishes
All RVers know that maximizing storage space is key, and collapsible water and food dishes is a great way to save space in your RV. They also work great on travel days because you can wipe them out, collapse them and throw them into a purse or bag. There are tons of color, quantity and size options on Amazon. Check them out here.
