The Winnebago Travato is often compared to the Hymer Aktiv. They are both B-Vans built on the Ram ProMaster 280-horsepower, 3.6-liter, V6 gas engine. We compared the Travato to the Aktiv and we think the Travato is better.
Read our 8 Reasons Why We Think the Winnebago Travato is Better than the Hymer Aktiv –
Reason #1 Floorplan Selections: Winnebago gives you choices to customize the perfect Travato for your needs. The Winnebago Travato is available in two floorplans – the 59G is an extremely flexible floorplan with a front dinette area, large rear corner bed that folds up to make room for bikes or other large items and a corner bath. The 59K is a very open floorplan for a B-van. It boasts two twin beds, that also function as a seating area, that configure into cross coach sleeping, a spacious rear bath/shower area, and cab seats that swivel to become an integral part of the living space. The Hymer Aktiv only has one floorplan option that forces you to use the rear of the coach as only storage or sleeping.
Reason #2 Solar System Standard: Solar Power is a hot topic in the Van Life community and Winnebago did not ignore the demand in the Travato. The Travato now has (2) 100-watt solar panels with a junction box and plugs for additional panels standard. The Aktiv does not have solar standard…it is an additional $3,000 for solar.
Reason #3 Flexible Sleeping Options: The 59K has two twin beds in the rear of the coach that can be used as separate sleeping spots or can switch into a cross-coach sleeping space that measures 54” x 76” and the 59G floorplan has a Queen-size corner bed that folds up for storage and a Flex Bed System in the front of the coach. The 59G’s Flex Bed System utilizes the dinette and bench seat to create sturdy, cross-coach sleeping measuring at 42” x 72”. The Hymer Aktiv’s says it has sleeping for four, but it’s one floorplan has rear sleeping standard and you would have to pay additional money for the “single folding mattress” that balances on the dinette and front seats. Flexible sleeping options aren’t the only reason why the Travato is better than the Aktiv when it comes to sleeping.
Reason #4 Deluxe Froli Sleep System: The innovative FROLI system is comprised of individual light weight, adjustable springs adhered to the bed frame that provide users with an unparalleled comfort and increased airflow underneath their mattress. The mattress in the Travato rests on a surface that allows air to pass through and is made up of many individual springs that flex and adapt to your body shape, weight and movements. The Aktiv’s rear sleeping is a mattress on top of a slatted board and the optional folding mattress in the front is a mattress resting on boards placed between the dinette seat and the driver’s chairs.
Reason #5 Premium Interior Materials: The Travato comes standard with solid surface Corian countertops. Corian countertops are extremely durable and will survive the daily wear and tear of RVing. Corian has a non-porous surface that prevents dirt and stains from penetrating the material therefor cleaning is a breeze. Underneath the Corian countertops are the lightweight and Technoform cabinetry. Technoform cabinetry is Italian-designed, curved cabinetry that is extremely lightweight ….. The Travato has UltraLeather from UltraFabrics in the 59G. UltraLeather gives you the softness, comfort and luxury that is more durable than leather and extremely easy to clean. UltraLeather has been tested and proven to surpass competitive fabrics for integrity and durability. The Aktiv has a cheaper composite leather in its interior.
Reason #6 Exterior Features and Options that Compliment your Hobbies: For the outdoor lover, the Travato comes with an armless powered patio awning with LED lights, an exterior speaker system, and an optional bike rack and luggage rack with movable ladder. And after a long, adventurous day outside you can wash your gear off with the exterior wash station with hot and cold water. The Aktiv doesn’t have the speakers, racks or wash station. The Travato will get you to your destination and you can bring all your gear with!
Reason #7 The Travato is COOLER than the Aktiv: The Travato has a 13,500 BTU high-efficiency roof air conditioner compared to the Aktiv’s 11,000 BTU air conditioner. The Travato also comes with a powered ventilator fan in the galley and a powered roof vent in the bathroom to keep air circulating and keep the inside of your travato comfortable.
Winnebago’s Superior Construction: In Winnebago’s 60 years of building RVs they have pioneered several construction standards that are now industry standard. Winnebago was the first RV company in the U.S. to manufacture compact RVs and campervans. Why buy an RV from any other manufacturer.
