As the largest Winnebago Class B Camper Van Dealer in the Country, we often receive the question, can a Camper Van tow a car or can a Camper Van tow a boat?
To determine this you need to first determine what the weight of the item you want to tow is. Most boats would be easily towable by a Camper Van. Small cars and SUVs may be towable dependent on their weight.
Let’s first start with a couple of RV weight measurements it is important that you understand.
Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) – This is the total weight of all cargo inside the RV which includes all of your gear, you and the freshwater tanks full. This will vary on your RV based on optional content. (To find the exact OCCC of your CamperVan, see the orange sticker inside the passenger side door.)
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GCWR) – The unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity = the RV’s gross vehicle weight rating.
Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) – This is the absolute maximum weight of your campervan + any trailer or vehicle towed behind it. GCWR is the unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity + any towed vehicles (GVWR + any towed vehicles.)
To determine the towing capacity of a Camper Van you need to subtract the RVs GVWR from the GCWR. Now that you know this terminology – we have listed the tow capacity of Winnebago CamperVans below:

Winnebago Solis Tow Capacity
The Winnebago Solis is a Camper Van built on the RAM Promaster Chassis. The 59P and 59PX floorplans are available with or without a Pop-Top. The shortest of the Winnebago Solis floorplans is the Winnebago Solis Pocket. Measuring just 17’10” in length, the Pocket is known for its flexible interior and affordability.
The Solis has a factory installed 3,500 lb. tow package. However, if your Solis is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 8,550 lbs. (Pocket), 8,900 lbs. (59P) or 9,350 lbs. (59PX) that you are still limited to the GCWR of 12,000 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 3,450 lbs. (Pocket) 3,100 lbs. (59P) or 2,650 lbs. (59PX).(GCWR 12,000 – GVWR.)
Winnebago Travato Tow Capacity
The Winnebago Travato is also built on the RAM ProMaster Chassis. The Travato is available in 2 main floorplans, the 59G and 59K. Each of these floorplans is also available with lithium power, the Travato 59GL and 59KL. The Travato is known for its streamlined features and energy and fuel-efficient systems.
The Travato has a factory installed 3,500 lb. tow package. However, if your Travato is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 9,350 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 12,000 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 2,650 lbs. (GCWR 12,000 – GVWR 9,350.)
Winnebago Revel Tow Capacity
The Winnebago Revel is a Winnebago Campervan built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Diesel Chassis. The Revel is a true 4×4 RV featuring function-fueled design ready to go off-road when you are.
The Revel has a factory installed 5,000 lb. tow package. However, if your Revel is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 9,050 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 13,550 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 4,500 lbs. (GCWR 13,550 – GVWR 9,050.)
Winnebago Boldt Tow Capacity
The energy and fuel-efficient Winnebago Boldt is also built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Diesel Chassis. The Boldt features the perfect blend of innovation and comfort, and is available with optional on-demand 4WD.
The Boldt has a factory installed 5,000 lb. tow package. However, if your Boldt is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 11,030 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 15,250 lbs. As such, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 4,220 lbs. (GCWR 15,250 – GVWR 11,030.)
