Routine Care
Corian Solid Surface is a nonporous surface so it can be maintained with minimum care to retain its original appearance. With proper routine care, your countertops can stay looking new for the life of your motorhome. Be sure to clean any spills promptly as many substances will only stain if left in contact with the surface for an extended period of time. Warm soapy water, ammonia-based cleaners and various solid surface cleaners will easily remove dirt and residue from your countertops. However, you should avoid window cleaners as they can leave a build up that will dull the surface. Also, be sure to completely dry the countertop after any spills or cleaning.
Preventing Heat Damage
Although countertop materials are generally heat resistant, it is important to minimize direct heat to protect your Corian countertops by using heat trivets or hot pads when placing hot objects.
Preventing Other Damage
In the majority of cases, Corian Solid Surface countertops can be repaired if damaged. However, it is important to keep the following guidelines in mind to help prevent permanent damage. First, avoid getting strong chemicals, such as paint removers and oven cleaners, on your countertop. If a spill does occur, quickly clean the surface with water to fully rinse off the chemical. It is also important to always use a cutting board and never cut directly on the countertop. However, common household commercial cleaners like powdered, abrasive cleaners, ammonia, and strong detergents do not affect Corian Solid Surface.
Making Your Own Repairs
If required, the general recommendation for making your own minor repairs is to start with non-abrasive cleaners to remove any stains. We recommend starting with less aggressive cleaning and only moving to more aggressive methods until any scratches are removed. Removing minor cuts and scratches is easy as the material of Corian Solid Surface countertops goes all the way through meaning they are renewable. Minor cuts and scratches can be removed on your own. However, deeper scratches is best repaired by professionals.
