RAM ProMaster Chassis
Similar to the Winnebago Travato, Solis, and Solis Pocket, the AE Roam is built on the ever reliable RAM ProMaster chassis, equipped with 280-hp, 3.6L V6 gas engine and 9-speed automatic transmission. The RAM ProMaster has been newly enhanced and now features additional safety and cab upgrades including electronic park brake, forward collision warning, multi-collision and more.
Wheelchair Lift and Tiedowns
The key feature of the AE Roam for optimum accessibility is the Braun UVL wheelchair lift as well as wheelchair tiedowns. With a maximum capacity of 750 lbs, the lift includes one hand-held control and a wireless remote for ease of operation. To ensure optimum safety, four wheelchair tiedowns are installed in the most spacious area of the AE Roam and include four Q’Straint attachments which allow you to use the wheelchair as another seat during travel. Also included is a shoulder belt near the tiedowns to keep the occupant safe.
Wheelchair User Accessibility
The open floorplan for the Winnebago AE Roam is thoughtfully designed to provide maximum space and ease of movement. Included throughout are key features that add an additional layer of accessibility for wheelchair users. For example, the galley is equipped with lower countertops, an accessible refrigerator, and storage for in-reach use. An additional innovative feature includes a pull-down cabinet that provides easy access to storage. The bathroom with integrated shower and cassette-style toilet in the Roam AE includes a large privacy curtain, swiveling cassette toilet, and an assist bar for easy transfer.
Additional Features
In the rear of the camper van is a motorized sofa/bed that includes two 3-point seat belts and comfortably sleeps up to two. This area also features a flip-up dinette extension with plenty of space for wheelchair users to dine with their guests. To increase the sleep capacity of the AE Roam, you also have the option to add the pop-top sleeping area with FROLI sleep system.
