RVing 101: 6 Myths about RVing Busted

There may be some misconceptions about RVing and we are here to bust some common myths about RVing and motorhomes.

Myth #1: RVs are big boxes and difficult to drive.

Winnebago does manufacture larger Class A motorhomes like the Vista and Horizon. The most popular motorhomes on the market are the small Class B campervans and the Class C compact coaches. Winnebago Boldt

Class B campervans like the Winnebago Travato or Revel are built on the inside of a van chassis from RAM ProMaster or Mercedes-Benz. They are totally enclosed and range in size from 19’ to 23’ and achieve great gas mileage. They have a variety of features and options that allow owners to camp off-the-grid and easily pick up and go to the next location.

Class C compact coaches like the Winnebago View are slightly larger than the Class B campervans measuring at 26’. They will sleep up to 6 and have more storage. They are still extremely maneuverable and will fit in a driveway or a remote campground.

Myth #2: Motorhomes get terrible gas mileage.

The gas mileage for motorhomes is dependent on the type of RV, how you have it loaded, how fast you are going and at what incline. We have heard that our guests can get 18 – 20 mpg in some of our Class B motorhomes going 55-65 mph.The Winnebago Travato

Myth #3: I need to have a special license to operate a motorhome.

Generally, it is not required to have a special license to operate a motorhome under 26,000-lbs. You will want to check your state DMV to get the rules and regulations in your individual state.

Myth #4: RVing is only for retirees.

RVing has become extremely popular with all age groups, especially millennials. Millennials are the fastest growing segment entering the RV market and Winnebago is responding. RVs are coming in contemporary designs with features that allow owners to work while on the road.Millennials in a Revel

Myth #5: You have to stay in one place if you are RVing.

That is the best part of RVing… you can choose where you are going next. You can travel across the country in your home, with your bed, your kitchen, and your bathroom!

Myth #6: You have to buy your Winnebago from your local dealer.

As part of all Winnebago Dealer’s agreement with Winnebago, they have to work on Winnebago products no matter where the motorhome is sold.
