The Winnebago Journey is built atop the Freightliner XCM Modular Rail Chassis with an integrated Maxum II Foundation. Like a bridge, modular frames get their rigidity from an engineered truss structure. This allows more versatility with basement configuration to maximize the storage capacity in the 3 Winnebago Journey floorplans. The Freightliner XCM with bridge chassis is built with huck bolts (two piece fasteners that uses metal on metal contact to secure as a permanent bond) in the middle – it uses the same wire looms and same tanks providing the user a seamless experience.
The XCM Chassis allows for a flush chassis with no bend to accommodate the engine or in the main cab area as you might find in other Class A Diesel RVs. The XCM modular bridge chassis design allows for flush floor mounting in the Journey to alleviate floor pops and travel noise. This design provides a 4x stiffer torsion on the chassis to ensure a super ride and quiet travels as you head down the road.
