Buyers will want to invest just as much time if not more, in researching RV dealers to make sure they find a reputable dealer to work with.

Let’s face it, there are a lot of lousy RV dealerships out there. Unfortunately, in the race to find the lowest possible rig price, many people choose to buy from dealers who do not have a history of great customer service and outstanding RV repair. Know in advance that the lowest price is not usually synonymous with the best buying experience. In our blog series we will cover items you should be looking for in your RV Dealer.
Online Inventory, Resources and Information – A majority of RV purchases today start with online research, so as a buyer you can compare one RV to another in the comfort of your own home. As you are doing so, take note of what information dealers provide online. Is it limited…leaving you to wonder what are they leaving out? Is it laid out poorly making it hard to understand and if so, what does this say about what an in-dealership experience with them might look like? That’s why it’s important to find an RV Dealer that is transparent with this information, providing any and all RV information online in addition to verbally. Pricing may not always be available due to manufacturer pricing restrictions, but is all of the other information readily available? Items including Window Sticker, Option Itemization Breakdown (if ordering new), Vehicle History (on preowned), a warranty on preowned etc. are all important factors to look at when purchasing an RV.
Many dealers are so focused on the race to the sale, they may not take the time to thoroughly understand what the buyer’s RVing needs are instead trying to push them into an RV that has been sitting on the lot for too long or an RV that they are being incentivized to sell by the dealer or the manufacturer. They may try to shortcut the RV buying process providing limited information and detail on the RV and the dealerships “after the sale” availability.
This is a critical question – How much will the dealer support you AFTER you buy your RV? What resources do they have available to you? If you have questions about your RV after you leave the dealers lot, do you have dealership resources to contact and will they actually be available to answer your questions? What other resources are available to you including informational videos on the RV you purchased regarding usage and maintenance items? What does the dealerships follow up with you after your purchase look like, not only in the short term but the long term of your RV ownership?
