When comparing the available power, we are looking at power off the pure sine wave inverter. This tells how many amps users will get without being hooked up to shore power. The Winnebago Travato 59KL and 59GL provides 30 amps of available power, without being plugged into shore power, while the Coachmen Galleria Li3 provides 25 amps of power. In the Travato, you will always be traveling with full 30 amp of service off the extremely powerful 3600-watt pure sine wave inverter. If you are looking to boondock, the Coachmen Galleria Li3 is not going to be able to power your electronics and appliances for as long as the Winnebago Travato with the Pure3 Energy Management System.
Voltage: When looking at voltage, were comparing the Travato 59KL/GL’s second alternator to the Coachmen Galleria Li3’s second alternator or as they refer to it – “the underhood generator.” The Coachmen Galleria Li3’s second alternator is a 12 volt while the Travato 59KL and 59GL with the Pure3 Energy Management System has a 58-volt second alternator. The Travato’s second alternator has an extremely compact design that keeps it out of the way of curbs and road debris.
Energy: Comparing Winnebago’s Pure3 Energy Management System’s energy capacity to the Coachmen Galleria Li3 reveals a rather large discrepancy between the two. The the Coachmen Galleria Li3 provides 7,200 watt-hours while the Winnebago Pure3 Energy Management System provides 8,700 watt-hours.
You might be wondering if watt-hours are really that important? Yes, they absolutely are. A Watt Hour is a unit of measurement for power over a period of time, in our case an hour, and is a way of measuring capacity. One watt-hour is equal to one Watt of average power flow over an hour, so one Watt over 10 hours would be 10-Watt Hours. Volta, the company that partnered with Winnebago to build the Pure3 system, has a power calculator on their website and showed what the run times for the Pure3 System would be. If you were boondocking (not hooked up to shore power) and you were not collecting any energy from your solar panels and you wanted to run your air conditioner all day (at 50% duty cycle), run your compressor refrigerator all day (at 50% duty cycle), binge watch your favorite show on your big screen HDTV for six hours and have every single light in your coach on you would have to recharge in 7.3 hours.
Charging Power and Time: Time is of the essence for RVers needing to charge their lithium system. Both the Coachmen Galleria Li3 and the Winnebago Pure3 Energy Management Systems will recharge from the second alternator. If you recall, the Coachmen Galleria Li3 has a a 12-Volt alternator while the Pure3 has a 58-Volt alternator. The Pure3 Energy Management System can also completely recharge the battery approximately 90 minutes while the recharging time of Coachmen Galleria Li3 is over 2 hours and 42 minutes.
Lithium Ion Type and Life: With top performance and safety as uncompromising goals, Winnebago and Volta developed a plug-n-play scalable system using high-density, nickel manganese cobalt batteries. These outperform “consumer-grade” lithium ion competitors with about two times the effective storage and take up one third the space of AGM lead acid batteries. What’s more, they’ll last the lifetime of a vehicle, service anywhere and can withstand cold storage.
Under 200-lbs. the Travato’s Pure3 Energy Management System three-module, automotive-grade energy pack providing 8,700 Whrs. The energy pack is watertight and durable, the steel housing is the safest on the market. The Coachmen Galleria Li3 is a consumer-grade lithium ion battery with far less storage capacity as the Travato’s. The Pure3 Energy Management System lasts the lifetime of the vehicle and has been tested. Its expected life is 10 years/2000 cycles at 80%. The expected life of the Coachmen Galleria Li3 is unknown.
Warranty: The lithium ion system but the Travato’s Pure3 Energy Management System has an industry-leading 8-year warranty on the battery which was designed to last a lifetime. While the Coachmen Galleria Li3 warranty is significantly less at 3-years.
Winnebago’s new Pure3 Energy Management System is an industry leader and is superior to the Coachmen Galleria Li3. See our entire Travato inventory and learn more about the Winnebago Travato here.
